Wilbert J. Oler

Wilbert J. Oler, age 90, of Columbus, passed away April 7, 2022. Member of Whitehall Church of the Nazarene. Graduate of Chester Franklin High School in Chesterville, Ohio and Olivet Nazarene College in Illinois. U.S. Army Veteran. Wilbert retired from Columbus City Schools after 32 years, 10 years as a teacher at East High School and the remaining years in food service as a purchasing agent. Retired from Kroger after 24 years. In his retirement he worked for the Poolman for 10 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. Oler and Edith C. Williams Shaffer Oler; siblings, Louis Shaffer, Chester Shaffer, Melvin (Eileen) Shaffer, Annabelle (Wilson) Burggraf Garforth, James (Carolyn) Oler, and Carl Oler; brothers-in-law, Donald Bowers, Alfred Jordan, Vern Jordan, and David Lester. Wilbert is survived  by his wife of 66 years, Norma Bowers Oler; children, Pamela (Craig) Bellomy, Beth (Gary) Leonard, Sue (Herb) Fleischer, and Michael (Annette) Oler; grandchildren, Leanne Leonard, Jonathan (Michelle) Fleischer, Nicole (Miguel) Rangel, Amanda (Burnis) Combs, Christine (Mark) Koehler, Courtney (Phillip) Habermann, David (Tashina) Bellomy, Bradley (Tara) Leonard, Rob Bellomy, Austin (Jasmine) Oler, and Joseph Oler; many great-grandchildren, and people he considered his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mickey Shaffer, Paula Oler, Anna (Benton) Mahan, Emma (Butch) Chipps, Robin Lester, Vicki (Jeff) Sargent, Judy Bowers, Debbie Jordan, and Tanya Jordan; brother-in-law, Pete (Judy) Jordan; many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 14, 2022, beginning at 4 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7 p.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St., Columbus, Ohio 43207, Pastor Jack Johnson officiating with military honors to follow.
