Virginia Blankenship Holbrook

February 26, 1935 — November 26, 2024

Virginia Jean Blankenship Holbrook, age 89, passed away peacefully at home on 26th of November 2024, in Henderson, Nevada where she was residing with her daughter, Brenda. Virginia was a member of the Highland Avenue Freewill Baptist Church in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Previously Virginia was a member of the Southwest Freewill Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio. Virginia was active in her church and in the practice of God’s teachings. Virginia was well loved by her friends both in and outside of church. Virginia moved to Columbus Ohio after graduating from Boyd County High School to find employment. She worked for Federal Glass Company for nearly 20 years. Virginia met Glen Blankenship, and they were married in 1955. They welcomed their twin daughters in February of 1956. Her greatest joy was in finding a personal relationship with God and raising her family in church. Joining the ladies auxiliary, provided her with the opportunity to assist others in need and to raise awareness of the church’s mission and to share her love of God. Virginia loved her family above all else. She worked tirelessly to provide a loving home and provide a good life for her family.  We will miss her every day, but also share the joy of knowing she is in heaven with her many beloved family and friends who have gone before her. Preceded in death by husbands, Glen Blankenship and Elmer Holbrook, parents Kay and Erie Sturgill, brother Ishmel Sturgill, sister and brother-in-law Sunshine (Everett “Buck”) Rice, sister Yvonne Maynard, sister Jewell Draper, son-in-law Leroy Prater and grandson-in-law Bryan Klacik.
