Richard S. Kautz, age 92, of Columbus, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2018 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Dick was born in Salem, Ohio, son of the late Simon and Hermine (Denndorf) Kautz. He graduated from Salem High School, Class of 1943. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving as a Signalman aboard PC-1177 in the Pacific Theatre during WWII and was awarded two Bronze Stars. He began his career with the masonry contracting firm of Michael Farr & Associates, and retired as a sales representative from the Hamilton-Parker Company. Dick was a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, founded in 1957, serving on many committees over the years. He was a past president of the Columbus Saxon Club. Dick loved to golf and was an avid Ohio State fan, serving over 35 years as a portal chief and usher at Buckeye football games. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Selma Weikart, Ernestine Stockman and Dorothea Kautz. He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Hilda(Farr) Kautz; daughter, Julie (John) Guerard; grandchildren, Richard, Katherine, and Stephanie Guerard; sister-in-law, Evelyn Roth; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Monday, May 21, 2018 from 3 – 7 p.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High Street. Funeral Service Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. (visitation one hour prior to service) at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1555 S. James Rd., Columbus, OH 43227, the Reverend Nelson Meyer officiating. Interment with military honors to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends may honor Dick’s memory by contributing to the Endowment Fund of Redeemer Lutheran Church or favorite charity.
