Ray E. Conkle, age 94, of Columbus, passed on June 29, 2011 at Mt. Carmel East. Born October 27, 1916 in Logan, Ohio, son of the late Edward D. and Lena Conkle. He had a long and pleasant career with the Borden Company. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Katherine, brother Ralph D. (Don), sister Gladys Baugh, and niece, Patty. Survived by son Gary E Conkle of Blacklick, OH; granddaughters, Christine Logan (Greg) of Fruitland Park, FL., and Michelle Conkle of Suwanee, GA; great-grandchildren Amanda, Zachary and Jeremy Logan; sister-in-law Mary A. Conkle; nieces and nephews. A veteran of the U.S. Army WWII, with services in the European Theatre, North Africa and Italy. Longtime member of the consistory of Grace United Church of Christ. 65 year member and Past Master of Southgate-Potter Lodge #782 F&AM and Order of the Eastern Star; York Temple Chapter #155 R.A.M., Columbus Council #8 R.S.M., Mount Vernon Commandery #1 K.T., 50 year 32nd Degree Mason, Valley of Columbus; Past Patron of Beacon Chapter #593 and Past Illustrious Master of Kings Council. Visitation Friday July 1, 2011 from 3-7 p.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, (OES Service at 6:30 p.m. followed by Masonic Service at 7 p.m.) where funeral service will be held Saturday July 2, 2011 at 10 a.m., with Rev. Ron Hooker, Past Grand Chaplain of the Grand Council of Royal & Select Masons officiating. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estates. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio Masonic Home Endowment Fund, American Heart Association or Grace United Church of Christ.
