Nancy Leona Straub

Nancy Leona Straub, age 83, passed peacefully on Sunday, November 12, 2023. She was born on July 24, 1940, in Marietta, OH. She was preceded in death by parents Alfred and Leona Schafer, younger brother, Joseph Schafer, and oldest granddaughter Abigail Myers. Upon graduating high school, Nancy moved to Columbus, where she worked at Montgomery Ward and met her soulmate, Edward J Straub. Little did she know at this time that she and Ed would create an inseparable journey together, with a 61-year marriage that would witness their firstborn son David’s birth, followed by Ed’s graduation from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, their loss of infant Lisa at birth, and the joyous arrivals of daughters Lori and Amy. All who knew Nancy would agree that she had a servant’s heart. Her hospitality extended to everyone whom set foot in her home with no one leaving hungry or thirsty. She loved playing cards with family and friends, bowling, and working alongside her husband for nearly 50 years. Nancy is survived by her loving husband Edward Straub, brother, Raymond Schafer, and children David Straub (Rita), Lori Vernikoff (Kelly), and Amy Merritt (Keith). Nancy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren Reagan, Oliva Straub, Ellie Vernikoff, Norah Merritt, and Morgan Merritt- Muncy (Brett).
