Kenneth Lee "Ken" Reid, age 70, passed away Tuesday September 15, 2009 at Kobacker House. Ken, son of the late Hillis E. and Theresa (Martin) Reid, was born October 4, 1938 in Martins Ferry, Ohio. After graduation from Martins Ferry High School, he served in the United States Air Force as a jet mechanic. Ken, the former owner of Ditec Corporation, began his business career as manager of Woolworth Stores in Martins Ferry, Columbus and Chillicothe, Ohio before embarking on a 43 year career in office supply sales. One of the greatest joys of his life was the privilege of serving many loyal customers. He was a devoted son, husband, brother, uncle, and friend. A loving honorable man with an unforgettable presence and quick wit, he loved sports, bird watching, and music from the 50's, 60's, and 70's. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Joan (Ruffner) Reid, brother John Brian (Cynthia) Reid of Cambridge, OH; sister Linda (Roger) Snodgrass of Barnesville, OH; brother-in-law Norman (Marilyn) Ruffner of Tacoma, WA; nephews Brian Kenneth (Richelle) Reid of Grove City, John Lee (Christine) Reid of Westerville, OH, and Brian (Valerie) Neff of Circleville, OH; nieces Lisa Snodgrass of Barnesville, OH, Lorraine (Steven) Holiday of Jerusaleum, Oh, and Peggy (Gary) Wright of Williamsport, OH; Wendy Hinzey of Lewis Center, OH, Anita (Michael) Weidinger of Yorktown, VA., and April (Greg) Kritzwiser of Waverly, OH; dear friends Dave Calhoun and Ela Damiecki of Columbus; numerous other beloved nieces and nephews, many dear cousins and special friends, and Morrie the cat. A memorial service will be held September 26, 2009 at 12 noon with calling hours one hour prior at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St., Rev. Kathy Brown officiating. Ken's family would like to thank the staffs of Hematology, Oncology Consultants, Inc., HomeReach Hospice and Kobacker House for their dedicated and humane care.
