Jeanne Annabelle Stertzer Thompson, age 86, died August 12, 2007 after a long battle with dementia. She was born January 2, 1921 to the late George E. and Florence (Distelhorst) Stertzer. Preceded in death by husband, Gilbert J. Thompson. She is survived by son, James Thompson; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Neal Thomas and numerous cousins. Retired from the Defense Construction Supply Center (DCSC) and also the Interstate Commerce Commission (I.C.C.) in Washington, D.C. She also worked for the Stella Becker Dance Studio, Seagrave Fire Equipment Company, Armour Packing, Tri-State Insurance Service and Social Security Administration among others. Past President of the Ohio Valley Chapter of the TWA Seniors, Damen Sektion of the Columbus Maennerchor, Franklin County Genealogical and Historical Society, South High School Alumni Association and South High Class of 1939. She was a founding member of the Heart of Ohio Chapter of the Studebaker Drivers Club, founder and volunteer of the Ohio History of Flight Museum, a member of the Ohio Genealogical Society, Lake Central Alumni and Friends group, Crossroads C.C.L. in the '50's and '60's, D.A.G. and former member of Brookwood Presbyterian Church. In recent years, she attended Gates-Fourth United Methodist Church where she grew up. She was the family genealogist for the Distelhorst and Stertzer families as well as a world traveler and homemaker. She had flown in everything from a Bi-plane and the Ford Tri-Motor to the Boeing 747 and Concorde Supersonic Transport. Family will receive friends Tuesday 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St. where service will be held Wednesday 1:30 p.m., Rev. Wendy Lybarger and Rev. Ellen Phillips officiating. Burial Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to The Franklin County Genealogical and Historical Society, P.O. Box 44309 Columbus OH 43204-0309 or the the Organ Fund at Gates-Fourth United Methodist Church 119 E. Gates St., Columbus, OH 43206.
