Jean Jankowski, age 85, of Columbus, passed away August 13, 2014 at Winchester Place in Canal Winchester. Jean was born October 4, 1928 and grew up in Webster Springs, West. Virginia. She was a U.S. Navy Korean War Veteran. Member of Walnut Hill United Methodist Church; longtime member of Hamilton Local Boosters, member of Hamilton Township High School Athletic Hall of Fame, and was a volunteer at AmeriFlora. Jean retired from Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base. She was preceded in death by her parents, French and Nellie Carpenter; brothers, Harold and Lindsay Carpenter; She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Carl Jankowski; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Kathy Jankowski of Columbus; daughter, Saundra Jankowski (Thomas Myers) of Indianapolis; 3 grandsons, Daniel Belcher, James Jankowski, and Gregory Jankowski; 2 sisters, Zella White and Freeda Case; 3 brothers, Wally, Clifford Paul, and Lowell Carpenter; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Family will receive friends Sunday, August 17, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High Street. Service Monday 10 a.m., at Walnut Hill United Methodist Church, 975 Rathmell Rd., Columbus, OH 43207, Rev. Ruth Solo officiating. Interment with military honors to follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
