James R. Blankenship, age 83, of Columbus, passed away peacefully at home on July 3, 2016. He was an U.S. Army Veteran and was very proud to serve as a medic in the Korean War. Member of Church Triumphant where he was formerly an usher and head usher in years past.
Preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary Blankenship; beloved grandchildren Lori Beth Blankenship, Tiffany Guice, Andrew Compton, and beloved great-granddaughter, Kerensa Leeanne Compton. Siblings, Walter Ray Blankenship, Opal Stevenson, Mary Steger, and Helen Justice.
Survived by children Jim David (Ada) Blankenship, Jerry (Rebecca) Blankenship, Michael Blankenship, Sandra Wendell, Bret (Diana) Blankenship, Shirley Starkloff, and Lori (Lewis) Compton; grandchildren, Jamie, Nathan, Vince, Sarah, Rachel, Emily, Matthew, Brittany, Beau, Geri, Keri, Ashlee, Adam, and Sara; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Rodney Blankenship, Gloria Reynolds, Deany Lester, and Shirley Dean; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Family will receive friends, Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St., where service will be held Friday 10 a.m., Rev. Jerry Smucker officiating. Interment with military honors at Harrison Township Cemetery.
