Homer L. Crabtree, age 76, passed away Wednesday March 9, 2011 at Mt. Carmel West Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Retired from Federal Glass after 27 years, and then from Vipco after 18 years in 1999. Homer loved sitting on his front porch, feeding his birds and squirrels and had a passion for fishing and hunting. He was a very fun loving man who had a great sense of humor, loved telling jokes, listening to gospel music and enjoyed all sports including the Buckeyes and The Reds. Homer is preceded in death by his parents, Tracy and Margaret Crabtree; grandson, Christopher Smith; great-granddaughter, Abella Castle; sister Florence Lute and brother, Roger Crabtree. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Loretta; daughters, Jo Ann Gillette, Sandra (Richard) Smith, and Dianna (Robert) Coleman all of Columbus; grandchildren, Michele Hamilton, Scott Gillette, Dusty (Erin) Gillette, Eric (Clarinda) Gillette, and Robert Coleman; great-grandchildren, Riley, Amy, Adrianna, and Anna; great-great-grandchild, Kyleah; sister, Janice Thomas of Franklin Furnace, Linda Chambliss of Portsmouth, and Flora Brannan of Xenia; brother Ralph Crabtree of Columbus; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Homer is also survived by his lifelong buddy since childhood, Bob Fulk. Homer and Bob were like brothers who did almost everything together and were always there for one another from day one until the end. Homer's greatest gift was taking care of his family, friends, and anyone who needed a hand, and he will be greatly missed. Family will receive friends Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St., where service will be held Saturday 12 noon, Pastor Bob Elliott officiating.
