Hollis Black

Hollis Raymond Black, age 75, of Columbus went home to be with the Lord on June 2, 2011. He was born in Athens County on July 10, 1935 and led a very fulfilling life. He was a Marine and had his Retired Captain's Commission from the Marine Corp, President of the Marine Corp and Air Force Associations of Columbus, Deputy Sheriff with the Ohio State Penitentiary, a private EMT, a security guard for Burns Security, a Mason with the Capital City Lodge, a volunteer fireman at Stations 14 and 15, and last but not least a Shriner. Hollis is preceded in death by parents William H. and Freda D. Black, siblings Betty (stillborn), Bill, Marion, Jimmie, and Danny Joe Black; son, Hollie R. Black. He is survived by wife of over 52 years, Barbara S. Black; siblings, Shirley Mouser and Richard Black; siblings-in-law, Joannie and Maxine; children, Master Daniel (Kathy) Black, Susan (Mike) Jared, John (Diane) Black, Thomas Black, Samuel (Melody) Black, and Anthony Black; grandchildren, Angie, Dorisanne, Wendy, Nicole, Michael Paul, J.B., Christina, Joy, Daniel, and Emily; 22 great-grandchildren, and many other family and friends. We will all miss him very much. Visitation Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. (Masonic service 7 p.m.) at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday 11 a.m., at Christ The King Church, 75 Stewart St., Athens, OH 45701, Fr. Marty Holler Celebrant.
