George Rowe

George W. Rowe, age 83, of Columbus, retired Lieutenant for the Columbus Fire Department with 32 years of service, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010, at Mt. Carmel West Hospital in Columbus. He was born January 1, 1927 in Lockbourne, Oh., the son of the late Lloyd Rowe and Josephine Moberly Rowe. George was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during WWII. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Constance J. Ward Rowe; son, Gary T. Rowe of Pataskala; daughters, Peggy (Frank) Rydzewski of Pickerington, Patricia (Larry) Thompson of Sarasota, Fla., Teresa Mendoza of California, and Susan (Michael) Mullens of California; step-children, Rick (Diane) Fletcher, Debbi Thompson, and Bobbie Fletcher, all of Columbus; brother, Jamie Rowe of Grove City; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Rowe and Maria Rowe, both of Columbus; mother-in-law, Mary E. Conley of Columbus; brother-in-law Jack (Penny) Ward of Columbus; sister-in-law Marilyn Ward of Sylvania as well as 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by his daughter, Christina; brothers, Dean and Paul, and sister, Eloise Bolin. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at the GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 South High St., where funeral services will be Monday at 10:30 A.M. with Tom Fisher officiating. Burial will be in the Fernwood Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of the Graumlich Funeral Home and the McWilliams Funeral Home.
