George E. Hammond, age 89, of Lockbourne, passed away August 24, 2015. U.S. Navy Veteran WWII. Member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Lockbourne since 1954, and a member of the choir. Graduate of Groveport High School. Retired foreman with COTA. Council member with the Village of Lockbourne; member of VFW Post No. 495.
Preceded in death by wife, F. Jane Hammond; son, Gary E. Hammond; parents, Cramer and Celia Hammond, and sister, Carrie Mae Hutt.
Survived by grandsons, Geoffrey (Shawn) Hammond of Orlando, Jason (Jody) Hammond and Jeremy (Joy) Hammond of Brooklyn, NY; great-grandchildren, Katie, Violet, and Luke; siblings, Lewis (Norma) Hammond of Athens, Don (Frances) Hammond, Bonnie Guanciale of Newark, and Judy (James) Diuguid of Reynoldsburg; special niece, Clara Doll; many other nieces, nephews, and relatives; special friends, Melissa and Lacey Perigo and their sons, Nick and Zack.
Family will receive friends Thursday, August 27, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High Street. Service Friday 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 99 Commerce Rd., Lockbourne, OH 43127, Pastor Peter Ray and Pastor Jeff Wise officiating.
