George D. Robey Jr.

George Dallas Robey Jr., age 95, of Gahanna was peacefully rescued home to heaven surrounded by his family and his Pastor on August 13, 2023. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Barbara (Gundelfinger) Robey, his son, Jeffrey, his brother, Jim and his parents, George Robey Sr. and Gladys (Jones) Robey. He is survived by his children George (Catherine) Robey III, Susan (Dave) Sudhoff and Julie (Don) Jones. His grandchildren Teala (Fred) Mitchell, Tara (Pete) Folz, Jessica Spurr, Emily (Nathan) Hoffman, Laura (Josh) Fagras, Tiffany Sudhoff and Geoffrey Sudhoff. 13 great grandchildren, brother John Robey, daughter-in-law Linda Robey, special niece Kelly Robey and many other friends and family.

George was an avid fisherman, hunter and writer. There was nothing he enjoyed more than the outdoors and a good political debate. We will miss his fishing stories and Dad jokes. George loved the Lord and was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, having served there in many capacities through the years. Special thanks to Pastor Wes Hromowyk for his faithfulness in visiting Dad and sharing lots of hunting and fishing stories along with the Word. They had a special bond of faith and friendship.

Special thanks also to Megan Simpson, his ever-patient hospice nurse for the last 4 years and to the many aides and nurses who took care of him at Kensington Place for the last 10 years.

Family will receive friends Saturday, August 19, 2023, beginning at 9 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 766 South High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43206. Pastor Wes Hromowyk officiating. Interment with military honors to follow at Mifflin Township Cemetery in Gahanna.
