Ethyl Skidmore, age 91, of Columbus, passed away on May 27, 2016 at Scioto Community. Born May 6, 1925 near Gallipolis, Ohio she graduated from Bidwell Porter High School, worked at the Tribune until meeting and marrying Paul in 1945. After a few years they moved the family to Columbus and made their lasting home there. A member of Benfield Christian Church since 1957 she served the congregation as treasurer for many years and as an active member of the Women's Fellowship and other activities. Ethyl along with husband Paul managed to raise five sons while tirelessly working full time; first at General Motors and then a long career at Western Electric from which she retired.
Preceded in death by husband Paul and their son Cecil "Bill" Skidmore; siblings, Pauline Kratzer, Kenneth Adams, and Lutie Clark.
Survived by sons, Michael (Kay) of Van Buren, AR, Maurice (Joyce) of Buckeye, AZ, Thomas (Young Rae) of Won Ju, South Korea, and David (Melissa) Skidmore of Manhattan, KS; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St., where service will be held Friday 10 a.m., Rev. Steve Sherrod officiating. Interment to follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery. At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers donations to Benfield Christian Church, 146 Benfield Ave., Columbus, OH 43207 is encouraged.
