Dru R. Zimmerman, 65, passed away in his sleep November 26, 2020. He was a long-time Columbus resident who had enjoyed living downtown in The Waterford Tower since 1996.
Dru is survived by a sister: Lisa (Gerald Dye) Dye of Blue Ash, Ohio; 2 nephews: Gregory E. Gleason and William R. "Rob" Gleason; a niece: Lisa Beth Gleason Thomas; 2 grandnephews: Cody Robert Gleason and William Ashton Hunter; a grandniece: Niah Jade Gleason; and a great-grandnephew: Myles Grant Gleason.
A 1973 graduate of Worthington High School, Dru studied at Kendall College and Ohio Wesleyan University to obtain an Art degree, majoring in Photography. While living in Pasadena, CA, Dru was employed by Federated Department Stores as a Credit Consultant, a position which allowed him the opportunity to speak with a number of celebrities. He continued his career upon returning to Central Ohio, retiring from Chase Financial Services.
Dru continued his interest in art throughout his life. He was a collector, a creator, and a critical and appreciative patron of a wide variety of art genres. Dru was known and loved for his thoughtfulness, sense of humor, generosity, warmth, and kindness. He is and will be greatly missed by his family and his myriad friends.
Private family graveside service followed by burial at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Worthington, Ohio.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled and announced within a few months.
