Dorothy (Clary)

Dorothy L. Acker retired from this earth Sunday, September 11th, 2016 after a long, courageous battle with vascular dementia and Alzheimer's. She was born January 25, 1931 to the late Doris and Cassel Clary. She was a graduate of Columbus South High School Class of 1948 and an avid Buckeye Fan. Dorothy retired from Continental Insurance in 1996.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Norma Jean Marquardt and Veda Clary, granddaughter Suzanne and great-grandson Michael.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Rhonda and Jack Gurio, Molly Acker-Dyer and David Dyer and Carol Acker-Tickle and Tim Tickle; Grandchildren Jennifer, Ronald, Elizabeth, Kristin, Kassie, Ian, Blake and George. Great grandchildren include Jared, Sarah, Taylor, Patrick, Hannah, Kayden, Madisyn and Elijah. Great-great grandchild Aubrey. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was blessed to have many friends but has left behind her best friends of over 50 years, Annie Hackworth, Sylvia Palsgrove and Blanche O'Neil. Her daughters wish to thank you for your continued friendship to her.

Family will receive friends, Wednesday, September 14, 2016 beginning at 4 p.m. until time of funeral service at 6 p.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High Street, Chaplain Mark Hensley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, you may send donations to the Alzheimer's Association or the Humane Society in her name.

The family wishes to thank the following people from Columbus Care Center, Robin, Tamara, DJ, Marvin, Christina and Jackie. Our sincere thanks go to Vitas Hospice, Kim, Monique, Deborah, Audra, and Chaplain Mark. We thank you so much for making our mother's last days comfortable.
