Donald D. McKitrick, age 78, passed away August 25, 2023. He was born to the late Charles and Helen McKitrick. He was a quiet man who lived a full life.
He was a graduate of South High School, class of 1962 and member of the South High Alumni Association. Don was proud to be a regular Red Cross blood donor. He belonged to the Pickerington Senior Center and to Gender Road Christian Church, where he'd been active through the years in being a deacon and a greeter, working in the candy kitchen, enjoying days trips with the Seniors On The Go Group, playing with the church euchre group and he especially liked going to breakfast weekly with the church men to The Wigwam in Canal Winchester. He worked at Consolidated Freightways for many years and retired from ABF Trucking in Dayton, OH.
He was passionate about his pets; they always knew where to come for a little affection or a head scratching. Don liked to dance, go to movies, plays, and concerts, especially the Beach Boys. Going out to eat was always at the top of his list. He loved getting together with friends to play games, cards, or dominoes. He enjoyed all the activities at the Villas at Milnor Crossing. Don liked wearing crazy hats and he once bought one right off a man's head. Donald met his wife, Shirley, in Parents Without Partners, Chapter 869, where he especially liked playing volleyball.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Judith Engle, brother, Daniel McKitrick, and brother-in-law, Richard Heinlein. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley J.
