Daniel “Dan” Barth, age 86, passed away on December 7, 2023. Dan was born February 15, 1937, in Lockbourne Ohio. He entered the Marine Corps following his graduation from Ashville High School. Dan retired from the Marine Corp as “CWO4” in 1983 after serving two tours in Vietnam. Following the Marine Corp Dan became a lifelong member of American Legion Post 144, VFW Post 3424, and AmVets Post 1312. Dan worked at Scioto Downs Racetrack and then at the Music Box Store at City Center Mall. Dan eventually opened his own business, Barth Enterprises and became known as the “Merchman” having contracts selling souvenirs at concerts, sporting events and at the 2006 Super Bowl Game. Dan was also a lifelong friend of Shadow Box Live.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Bertha Barth; brother, John Barth; sister-in-law, Barbara Barth and nephew, Todd Sager. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Barth; stepson Larry (Jennifer) Carey; sister, Nancy (Ward) Sager; nephew, Ross Sager; niece, Amy (Michael) Craft and their children, Jake, Gabby, Noa, McKenna and Dayton. Also, his “other girl,” beloved dog Carmen.
Family will receive friends Monday, December 11, 2023, from 3 pm - 7 pm at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 South High Street, Columbus, OH. 43207 where service will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 11 am with Rev. Chris Ciampa officiating. Interment with Military Honors to follow at Fernwood Cemetery, Lockbourne OH.
