Clyde E. Jordan

December 15, 1924 — December 16, 2020

Clyde E. Jordan, went home to be with the Lord on December 16, 2020, one day after turning the age of 96. Clyde was known to many for playing the organ at Delray Road Church for over 50 years and at Sonshine Mission Church for almost 30 years or more.    He played for many funeral services at Graumlich Funeral Home over several decades, Woodyard Funeral Home, and Cook and Son Funeral Home.

Clyde’s gift of music goes back to when he was a teenager.  When he was just 14 years old, his parents bought a piano from a church for $2.00.  It was at that time when Clyde began teaching himself how to play the piano.  From first grade through eighth grade, Clyde learned how to read music.  The only music book Clyde had in his home was a church hymnal, from which he started playing music.  At the age of 15, Clyde gave his life to the Lord and played the piano at church services when a substitute was needed.  At the age of 17, Clyde was voted to become the pianist at his church full time.

Clyde’s gift of music through playing the piano and organ was a blessing to many.  Clyde did everything in his life to serve and honor Jesus.  He dedicated his life to his family, church and most of all Christ.  Not only did he play music for his church he was also the custodian, secretary, treasurer, and Sunday school teacher. He eventually retired from both churches.

He will be greatly missed.  Preceded in death by his wife, Donna Jean Jordan; son, Glen Jordan, parents, Robert and Alafare Jordan; grandson Craig Wagner; siblings, Minuard Jordan, Arnold Jordan, Clifford Jordan, Leo Jordan, Myrtle Gillian, Ruie Vance, Delphia Meadows, and Shelli Jordan.
