Charles E. Topping of Columbus, born January 26, 1928 in Barton, W.Va., died October 18, 2008 at Columbus Rehab. Member of Lighthouse Ministries (formerly Delray Road Church) for 58 years where he served on the Board for 50 years and where he taught Sunday School. Until his illness he faithfully attended Heritage Free Will Baptist Church. Since 1968 he worked as a Financial Planner at his own business, The C.E. Topping Financial Services. He graduated from Franklin University in the College of Business. Member and Secretary of the Ft. Gay High School (West Virginia) Alumni Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Artie Topping, brother, Earl Zane and sister Virginia. Survived by sister, Sue Carol Mayle of Canton, Ohio; wife, Betty McKenzie Topping of Columbus; sons, Bryan (Nancy) Topping, Steven (Debbie) Topping of Columbus; daughters, Pamela (Nick) Karan of Westerville and Paula (Michael) Refice of Columbus; grandsons, Jeffrey Karan, Michael Karan, Ryan Topping, Sean (Emily) Topping, Andrew Topping and Jacob Topping, and granddaughter, Amanda Topping; great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Tyler Karan of Cincinnati; step-grandchildren, Michael (Missy) Huffman and Aaron Huffman; step-great-grandchildren, Conner Huffman and Kirsten Huffman; numerous nephews and nieces; sisters-in-law, Rosie Eagleston of Columbus and Monnie Topping of Homosasa, FL. Visitation Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St. Service Wednesday 11 a.m. at Heritage Free Will Baptist Church, 575 Obetz Road, Pastor Tim W. Stout officiating. (Visitation 1 hour prior to service). Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
