Carl J. Jankowski, age 90, passed away on May 5, 2024. He was born on November 2, 1933, in Buffalo, New York. Carl proudly served his county in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and retired from DSCC after 33 years of federal service. He was a member of Walnut Hill Methodist Church and trusted in the blood of Jesus Christ for his own redemption from sin.
Carl had a passion for being engaged with his community. He was a longtime member, volunteering with the Hamilton Township Boosters. Carl could also be found spending his time volunteering at the Hamilton Township High School sporting events. He had the task of running the scoreboard and became a familiar face to many especially, at the concession stand. When he could no longer stand for extended periods of time, Carl was still a part of the concession stand sitting near it and enjoying the coffee brought over to him. In addition, he had the task of running the scoreboard. In addition, Carl took pleasure in working as an OSU Redcoat for many years.
Carl was a true family man and took pride in his role as a husband to his beloved wife of 57 years, Jean Jankowski who precedes him in death. He is also preceded in death by his parents, John and Cecelia Jankowski; brother John Jankowski Jr., and sister, Emily Czechowski. Carl cherished being a father to his surviving son, Joe (Kathy) Jankowski and his daughter, Saundra L. Jankowski (Thomas Myers). He found immense joy in watching his grandsons, Daniel Belcher, James and Gregory Jankowski grow and thrive; many nieces and nephews also survive him. In addition to his family, Carl leaves behind a community of friends. Carl J. Jankowski's legacy will live on through the memories shared by those who knew him best.
Family will receive friends Friday, May 10, 2024, from 3 – 7 pm at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43207. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Walnut Hill United Methodist Church, 975 Rathmell Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43207 with Rev. Jeffrey Julien and Lay Pastor Wayne Eaton officiating. Interment to follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
