Calvin Bumgardner

On Wednesday, February 16th, 2022, Calvin Bumgardner's faith became sight as he passed from this earthly life into the presence of his Savior.  He was born Calvin Clyde Bumgardner on June 29th, 1937, to Clyde and Macel (Gilland) Bumgardner of Colcord, West Virginia.  He grew up in Clifton, West Virginia and was a graduate of Wahama High School in 1955.  From there he attended Marshall University and married his high school sweetheart, Janice (Duncan) Bumgardner in 1957. Life took them to the Columbus, Ohio, area.  He began working for Lennox Industries and retired from there in 1989.  After his wife's death, he remarried Ella Coleman and moved with her to the Tampa, Florida, area where he lived until 2018 when he relocated to live with his son, Scott (Rosie) in the Groveport, Ohio area. Calvin enjoyed gardening, watching sports (mostly the Ohio State Buckeyes), reading, studying, and teaching God's Word, singing and traveling to area churches with The Singing Duncans.  He was a founding and active member of Canaan land Freewill Baptist Church in Grove City, Ohio, and, while living in Florida, a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Seffner.  He was a hardworking and faithful man - to his wife, his family, his church, and his Savior.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Macel Bumgardner, his high school sweetheart, Janice (Duncan) Bumgardner, and his second wife, Ella (Coleman) Bumgardner. He is survived by his children: son and daughter-in-law, who were faithful, loving caregivers over the last few years of his life, Scott (Rosie) Bumgardner, daughters and sons-in-law, Penny (Chris) Davis of Mansfield, Ohio, and Shellie (Tim) Armstrong of Valrico, Florida.  His grandchildren, Dr. Victoria Bumgardner, Jon (Elizabeth) Bumgardner, Veronica Bumgardner, Jesse Bumgardner, Levi Davis, McKenna Armstrong, Isabelle Armstrong, and Jack Armstrong. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marshall and Kay Duncan, Tim and Kitty Duncan, Ronald and Patty Duncan, Diane Duncan, Susie and Willie Beauchamp, and many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, February 22, 2022, from 4 PM to 7 PM at Canaan Land Church 2777 Gantz Rd., Grove City, OH. 43123, where service will be held Wednesday February 23, 2022, at 11:00 AM (with visitation one hour prior to service).  Pastors Will and Shawn Beauchamp officiating. Interment to follow at Concord Cemetery, Grove City.
