Betty Collins

Betty Elnora Foreman Collins, born July 13, 1923, in Columbus, Ohio, passed away December 4, 2008. Betty was a lifelong resident of the Columbus and Upper Arlington area. A graduate of Columbus South High School, she also attended Capital University. Betty worked in the corporate offices of White Castle and as assistant to the station manager at WOSU Radio and Television until retirement. She was a member of Ohio Eastern Star, PEO and First Community Church. During WWII, Betty entertained returning servicemen as a volunteer to the USO and sang on local stage and radio as one of the Foreman Sisters. An avid painter, she studied under local artists Dottie French and Leland McClelland. She was a volunteer, supporting both Children's Hospital through fundraising with the Northwest Columbus TWIG and the First Community Church Trading Post. Betty is preceded in death by husband Elmer "Gene" Collins, son Stephen Allen Collins and sister Mildred Foreman Amberger. Survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Joe Collins of Gahanna, Stan and Marianne Collins of Westerville and Dawn Nolen Collins of Hilliard; five grandchildren: Sarah, Patrick, Kelly, Lindsay and Amanda; brother James L. Foreman (Dolores) of Upper Arlington and sister Dorothy Foreman Simonds of Columbus. Betty considered the staff and friends at the Feridean Commons Senior Housing in Westerville to be members of her family. Memorial Service 6:30 p.m. Monday December 15, 2008 at Burkhart Chapel at First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd. Columbus, Ohio 43212. Arrangements by GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High Street. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Arthritis Foundation or First Community Church.
